Why I Volunteer: Jeffery Myers, PA-C

Meet Jeffery Myers, PA-C, an advocate for palliative medicine and hospice care. As an Assistant Professor of Palliative Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, Myers shares insights into his volunteer experience with the NCCPA and offers valuable advice to fellow PAs considering similar contributions to the profession.

Tell us a bit about you, including all your credentials and your current role.

I received a Master of Public Health in Australia, focusing on international health. I found I needed more direct patient interaction, so after graduating from PA school, I began working in primary care at a community health center in rural Oregon. In 2013, I moved to Portland, Oregon, and joined the inpatient Palliative Medicine team at Oregon Health & Science University. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Palliative Medicine and am passionate about helping patients and families navigate serious illness. I believe all clinicians play a role in shaping a family’s end-of-life experience narrative.
